Yoga with Michelle

Yoga & Thai Massage Therapist

I qualified in 2009 and since then I have explored and studied many styles of yoga. In 2014 i travelled to India, where I  spent a month at the Sivananda Ashram, Neyyar Dam, Kerala, studying Traditional Hatha yoga. I was honoured to be awarded with the title Yoga Siromani which signifies jewel of the crown of yoga.

My teaching and Thai massage was born out of my love for yoga and the beautiful and profound personal journey I found myself on. It is my hope that through my classes people will also experience the deep joy, serenity and healing that yoga has offered for me.

A Sivananda Yoga class follows a specific sequence of classical Hatha yoga postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. The class will be slow paced, and meditative which will encourage proper breathing, flexibility, strength and vitality in the body whilst calming the mind

This class is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Yoga with Rebecca

Rebecca teaches a flowing, “moving meditation” Vinyasa style yoga. Uniting movement and breath to create a dynamic flowing practice, our focus is sustained in the present moment through observation of the breath, the mind, and body-sensations.

Bio

Recently returned from a life in New Zealand, Rebecca is taking a break from her profession as a veterinarian, to spend time with family, to meditate, and to teach and practice yoga. Off the yoga mat, she is a life-long horse-lover, and an enthusiastic-beginner surfer.

One Myth about Yoga I’d like to bust?

This idea “I’m not flexible enough to do yoga”.

Yoga isn’t about being physically flexible (although certainly it can help you become more so!) if anything the yoga sessions I offer are about being mentally flexible; about being resilient to withstand the pressures of modern living. I’m really keen to make my yoga classes “accessible” both physically, and mentally, and engage with people who would tend to go “oh no… I could never do yoga, because I can’t get my foot behind my head”!

Pilates with Meinir

Suitable for people recovering from back pain.

Meinir has a background in the performing arts and fitness. She fell in love with Pilates while she was working as a singer, voice teacher and fitness instructor in London. Pilates then helped her through a busy International touring schedule and hours spent frequently sitting on long haul flights.

After moving to Sydney in 2006 she continued to appreciate the benefits of Pilates through her pregnancies, and following major abdominal surgery.  Becoming an instructor had always been in the back of her mind, and in 2014 she decided to take the plunge and enrolled in the Cert IV in Matwork Instruction with Pilates International Training Centre in Sydney.

She spent 18 months teaching at Cardiff Pilates Studio, and now runs her own classes in Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and Bridgend.

Meinir balances to her work as a matwork instructor with her work as a singer

Nicky

My studio came to be built because my other passion is Nia. This is a music form that nourishes my soul as well as my body and it is great fun, aerobic and kind to the body. Each class is an hour of choreographed movement set to a variety of music designed to provide you with the joy of movement; that of a child that dances because it feels good to move. Anyone of any fitness level can join in and learn how to move in this way. It is the only exercise class that I know of that invites you to seek comfort and ease with every move until it becomes a joyful experience.
